TAs: It’s about the $40
Dear Sir,
After reading this week in The Royal Gazette that the Government feels that some difficulties with Travel Authorisations are by in large caused by the travellers themselves who wait until the last minute to apply for it, I beg to differ.
What do you say to those who do apply days in advance of their travel date but still have difficulties getting a confirmed TA? Further, travellers who are not computer or smart phone-savvy and have no alternative but to ask for help from friends or family - how do you justify the inconvenience of this protocol. The truth? It’s about the $40.
If the ”powers that be” insist on keeping the TA and the anguish it causes some, then please, please help by improving the Covid-19 hotline phone service by increasing the number of operators or adding more phone numbers. A wait of up to 90 minutes or more on hold can result in a missed flight. My message to those responsible for all this is — we help you by paying $40, now you help us to make it easier to part with our money.
