Traffic jams built up on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish this afternoon after a garbage truck dumpster separated from the vehicle.
Traffic was reduced to one lane near Fractious Street at about 3.30pm for the dumpster to be removed by a crane.
A police spokesman said that nobody was injured in the incident. They added: “Police officers are currently assisting with traffic flow and motorists are still advised to proceed with caution when travelling through the area as sand has been spread over the road surface at that location to assist with the clean-up process.”
Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call 211.
