Court and Dundonald Street junction closed for Belco repairs

The junction of Court and Dundonald Street has been closed to all traffic to allow the Bermuda Electric Light Company to carry out repairs to underground cables in the area.

A statement from the City of Hamilton said will be no vehicular traffic allowed in this area of Dundonald Street and all vehicles, including tractor trailers, will have to use alternative routes until further notice.

Belco said earlier it was repairing underground cables on Dundonald Street between Court and Parliament Streets.

The City said it had decided to close the section of the road In the interest of safety until Belco completed their repairs which were anticipated to be by the end of day tomorrow. Belco earlier said the repairs could take until Friday.

Belco president Wayne Caines said: “This was an unexpected fault and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this causes the public while our crews work as quickly and safely as possible to fix the issue.”
