The start of the 2022 cricket season has been put back another week, the Bermuda Cricket Board confirmed yesterday.

It is the second time the season has been delayed, after it was initially scheduled to begin on May 8 but then put back a week because some grounds were still not ready.

Cal Blankendal, executive director of the BCB, said that some grounds are still not ready to host matches, with the season now tentatively set to start on the weekend of May 21 and 22.

“We have been informed by multiple host field operators that the majority of the grounds will not be available and/or ready for match play this coming weekend,” Blankendal said.

“The 2022 cricket season will now start on the weekend of May 21-22.
