Canadian visa applicants can resume submitting their biometrics
Bermudians seeking a Canadian visa can submit their biometrics for the first time in two years, the labour and economy ministry announced.
Biometrics became impossible to collect after the Canadian Government instituted a travel ban for Canadian public servants in the wake of the pandemic.
The ban prevented workers from the Consulate General of Canada in New York from carrying out the biometric identification process needed for a Canadian visa.
Bermudian residents can apply for the biometrics collection service if they have applied for a visitor visa, work or study permit or permanent residence and have received a biometrics instruction letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Biometrics must be given no later than 30 days after receiving the instruction letter.
The service costs $85 CAD per individual and a maximum $170 CAD fee for families applying at the same time.
Those who applied and paid for a visitor visa, work or study permit online can get a biometrics instruction letter within 24 hours.
The collection service will be held at the Department of Immigration in the Government Administration Building, Hamilton, on from 1pm to 4:30pm on June 6 and 9am to noon and 1pm to 4:30pm on June 7.
Attendees must come 15 minutes early to their appointment and bring a valid passport or other travel documents and a copy of their Biometrics Instruction Letter.
Appointments can be booked in advance by e-mailing CNGNYConsular@international.gc.ca and including your full name, date of birth, phone number and a copy of the Biometrics Instruction Letter. Those who cannot attend these dates can click here for more options on delivering biometrics
