A man who got into an accident after driving while intoxicated was this week taken off the road for 18 months.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Jonte Raynor, 29, lost control of his motorcycle and fell off his bike while riding near the Crow Lane junction with Lane Hill in Devonshire.

He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later spoke to police officers.

When asked if he had been drinking, Raynor said: “Yes, I had two Tripel Belgium beers.”

He added: “I know I was probably over the limit so you can take my breath, that’s cool.”

A forensic doctor took samples of Raynor’s blood for analysis.

The tests showed that Raynor had 196mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg/100ml.

The incident happened on January 17.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Raynor, from Warwick, $1,000 in addition to the road ban and ordered him to pay by June 24.
