Premier, BDA on mission to London

The Bermuda Business Development Agency is continuing a promotional drive for the island aimed at widening interest internationally in “Bermuda’s aspirations to develop and grow new fintech and climate risk finance economic pillars”.

The BDA is continuing to promote Bermuda’s strengths at its latest overseas mission after a delegation landed in London on Sunday for meetings this week.

The delegation is engaging with leading global capital allocators, law firms, wealth managers and tech incubators, specifically to discuss the growth of these new areas of Bermuda’s international business.

David Burt, the Premier, who is heading the delegation, noted how the London trip built on recent fintech “announcements by Nayms, Jewel, Miami International Holdings/Bermuda Stock Exchange and NEXT, as well as the BDA’s extremely successful Bermuda Climate Summit on May 24”.

He said: “Momentum is certainly building in Bermuda’s fintech and climate risk sectors. It will be a pleasure to inform London-based financial services businesses and decision makers about our recent successes in this regard.”

BDA CEO, David Hart said: “Building on the BDA’s Executive Forum in NY, and travels to the Consensus event in Austin, Texas, the purpose of the London mission is to share Bermuda’s story, particularly our blue-chip regulatory environment, and how we are a world-leading jurisdiction for (re)insurance, asset management, high net worth services, technology, and infrastructure.”

On Monday, he addressed the Bermuda Society’s annual meeting and luncheon, reminding members that Bermuda remains the world’s best place to develop innovative tech-based financial services solutions.

Completing the London delegation is John Huff, the president and CEO of the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers; and BDA chair, Stephen Weinstein.

“Future BDA delegations are already being planned, including Toronto in September and Singapore in October,” Mr Hart said.

“We also encourage prospective Bermuda market entrants and fintech innovators to mark October 26-28 on their calendars to attend the BDA’s fourth annual Bermuda Tech Summit being held at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club as part of ‘Bermuda Tech Week’ from October 24-28.”
