Man seriously injured after being thrown from bike in crash
A man suffered head injuries when he was apparently thrown from a motorbike after he lost control of the vehicle, police said today.
The crash happened at the roundabout at the junction of Palmetto Road and North Shore Road in Devonshire at about 11.55pm yesterday.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman explained: “The motorcycle rider, a 40-year-old male, was travelling west on North Shore Road, Devonshire.
“He apparently attempted to continue west on to Palmetto Road at the roundabout, where excavation works are currently being carried out.
“It is believed he lost control of the bike, hit the island on Palmetto Road and was thrown from the bike.”
The man suffered face and head injuries, which appeared to be serious, and was taken by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was being treated today.
The spokesman said: “Traffic was diverted away from the area while the traffic collision investigators along with forensic staff processed the scene.”
Anyone who was in the area when the crash happened or who could have information about the incident was asked to e-mail Pc Wayne Sealy at wsealy@bps.bm.
