The BF&M volunteer programme for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship is now accepting online applications.

More than 500 volunteers will be required to fill positions at the tournament at Port Royal Golf Course from October 24 to 30, ranging from gallery management ambassadors, walking scorers, and television spotters as well as in merchandise, pro-am and product distribution.

“A key element of the success of this world-class championship is you — year after year our volunteers do a fantastic job.

“We are proud to support an event which gives so much back to the community, both through its charitable giving initiatives like Birdies for Charity, and through the positive economic impact and exposure it generates for Bermuda.”

The BF&M volunteer programme is open to anyone 18 years of age and older. Golf knowledge is not required and the tournament has a variety of opportunities for both golfers and non-golfers alike.

Young people aged 13 to 17 also have the opportunity to volunteer as a standard bearer, an exciting role of walking inside-the-ropes with a player group while carrying a two-sided scoring standard. This role is available on the Saturday and Sunday of tournament week.

“The Butterfield Bermuda Championship would not be possible without the dedication of our over 500 volunteers,” said tournament director Danielle Baiunco. “BF&M has stepped up to enhance the volunteer package this year with additional incentives and we are excited to continue to grow our programme with the support of BF&M and the local community.

“We encourage volunteers to register with us early and to donate their time on behalf of a charity of their choice to maximise their impact.”

Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of three shifts, which range from four to six hours each, depending on the committee. There is the option for volunteers to have an even greater impact by choosing to donate their time on behalf of a registered charity, which will see the chosen charity receive $200.

This year volunteers will receive an official tournament polo and tournament jacket courtesy of BF&M as well as a tournament hat, volunteer credentials providing access to the event at all times, BF&M accessories, lunch on volunteer days, and more.
