BUEI hosting a weekend of deep-sea movies
A weekend of “deep-sea movies” is being hosted by the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
The series begins on Friday at 6pm with a screening of The Deep, which is about two treasure hunters who discover the secret cargo of a Second World War shipwreck.
There will be a silent auction featuring memorabilia from the film, shot in Bermuda, on the opening night only with a happy hour reception starting at 5pm.
Items to be auctioned include a T-shirt signed by the film crew, vintage special edition Marvel Movie comic books for The Deep, original film posters and small props. Part of the proceeds from the auction will go towards BUEI’s educational programmes.
The Incredible Mr Limpet, starring Don Knotts, will screen on Saturday at 5.30pm. The film follows the adventures of Mr Limpet as he falls into the sea, turns into a fish and befriends ocean creatures.
Finally, at 4pm on Sunday, there will be a screening of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, starring Bill Murray. The film follows renowned oceanographer Steve Zissou, who seeks revenge on a rare shark that ate a member of his crew.
All films will be screened at BUEI. For more information, visit www.buei.bm
