One person dies, one in critical condition after two bikes collide
A person has died and another is in a critical condition following a collision between two bikes.
It is the eighth road fatality this year.
According to the police at about 11.43pm on Thursday officers and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious accident on South Road, just west of Horseshoe Road, Southampton, involving two motorcycles.
A police spokeswoman said: “Details surrounding this collision are very limited at this time.
“However, two people are reported to be injured, one them is listed in critical condition. A third person was pronounced dead at the scene by an attending physician.”
Traffic was diverted at Horseshoe Road and Harbour View Drive, while police processed the scene.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of collision or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to call the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.
A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the families. Police said no further information will be released until the next of kin have been notified.
David Burt, the Premier, expressed his sorrow regarding the fatality saying: “We had a challenge last evening. Unfortunately someone lost their life on the road, which is very sad and my condolences to the family.”

April 24: Freddy Hall, 37, dies in a car crash in St George’s. Mr Hall was able to continue driving after the incident, but paramedics were called to the scene shortly after he arrived home. He succumbed to his injuries.
May 22: Robert Hudson, 52, is killed in a single-vehicle crash on Cut Road in St George after hitting a wall and a parked car.
July 20: Jahmel Blakeney, 40, is killed after a crash involving three vehicles on Middle Road in Devonshire.
July 28: One person dies after a crash between two bikes on South Road, just west of Horseshoe Road, Southampton.
