Online registration open for Portuguese School of Bermuda
Registration is now open online for children of all backgrounds for classes at the Portuguese School of Bermuda.
Run by the Portuguese Cultural Association of Bermuda, the after school programme in the Portuguese language is for primary-school aged students across six grade levels.
Classes with the charity’s Portuguese teacher, Lidia Silva, are expected to start on September 26.
Ms Silva holds a Bachelor’s degree in Romance Language and Literature, specialising in Portuguese and French, from the University of Madeira, along with a diploma in primary school education from the University of the Azores.
She has taught in her home island of Madeira as well as in Portugal and London.
Lessons follow the official framework for teaching Portuguese as a foreign language, sponsored by the Instituto Camões – the Government of Portugal institution, responsible for promoting the Portuguese language and culture worldwide.
A minimum of $500 is required for the 2022-23 academic year, but parents can get a discounted rate of $450 by enrolling before August 12.
The PCA said parents could also opt to spread the cost of tuition in $125 instalments between this October and May 2023.
The association said demand had been “incredible” for its adult language programme, which launched in 2021.
Charitable donations for the programme can be made at the Butterfield bank account 20006060707516100.
Queries on the school can be e-mailed to info@portugueseBDA.com.
