A 49-year-old drink-driver who admitted having “a vodka and cranberry” before he was involved in a road crash has been banned from the roads for 18 months.

Jermaine Gibbons pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

Javone Rogers, for the Crown, told the court that police had spoken to Gibbons after he was involved in a road accident on Tee Street, Devonshire, early on Saturday, June 25, and smelt alcohol on his breath.

Gibbons, from Devonshire, admitted to having “a vodka and cranberry” before driving.

He took a breathalyser test, which showed that he had 115 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.

Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson disqualified Mr Gibbons from driving all vehicles for 18 months and ordered that he pay a $1,500 fine. She ordered that the fine be paid by Monday, August 22.
