Number of Covid-19 hospital cases drops
The island’s known cases of Covid-19 have risen to 238, with 200 people found positive for the virus out of the latest 3,973 test results.
The figures yield an overall test positivity of 5 per cent.
Health officials said six people were being treated in hospital for the illness, but there are no patients in intensive care.
The figures have climbed in the week since the last update on August 3, when the island had 196 confirmed active cases of the virus, with eight people in hospital — none of whom were in intensive care.
The total death toll of the pandemic also rose to 148 last week, after four deaths were linked to Covid-19.
There have been 158 recoveries since the last figures were given.
Of the new cases, 84 have come from overseas, while 51 are classed as local transmission and 65 are under investigation.
Kim Wilson, the health minister, reminded the public to follow public health guidance.
Wearing a face mask, regularly sanitising hands and maintaining a 6ft distance from others continues to be advised.
She added: “Importantly, ensure there is proper ventilation when you are indoors.
“Fresh air ventilation is essential for any building or internal space and protects all of us from infections such as Covid.
“Increase fresh air ventilation wherever possible when indoors.”
