Wendell Eve receives excellence award for ‘admirable service delivery’
The latest recipient of the Public Service Excellence Award has been announced.
The Department of Works and Engineering’s Wendell Eve was recognised by David Burt, the Premier, for “admirable service delivery”.
The PSEA is awarded every month to an individual or team that has shown “significant accomplishments” in the previous 60 days.
Mr Eve is superintendent with the department and oversees the highways construction and maintenance staff operations.
His was praised as “a man of integrity” for his “co-operative work ethic and compassion”.
Mr Burt said: “Many fail to appreciate the scope of the services provided by the Department of Works and Engineering to the public and just how critical they are to the maintenance of our island.
“The projects undertaken by this department are arduous and require much planning and co-ordination of staff to be completed safely and efficiently.
“I commend Mr Eve for his selfless work ethic and excellent people management skills.”
Dr Derrick Binns, head of the public service, said: “One of the traits of great leader is the ability to treat others fairly and with respect.”
