Murder investigation under way after man, 30, is stabbed to death in Warwick
Police have launched a murder investigation after a 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a Warwick residence.
Just after 8pm on Saturday, police received several calls about a disturbance involving several people at a property in Astwood Walk.
Two men were stabbed, one of whom succumbed to his injuries. The other was receiving surgery in hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Police Service said: “Two men were reported to have been stabbed after being involved in an altercation with several other men.
“The injured men were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. However, one of the men has succumbed to his injuries and the other remains admitted to hospital.
“A murder investigation has commenced and is being lead by Detective Inspector Jason Smith, of the Serious Crime Unit.”
Daemon Bell, 49, died in Shelly Bay on February 2 after what police described as an altercation. A man was charged later with his murder
Laje Franklin, 18, was fatally shot near Clearwater Beach in St David’s on April 5
Che Jennings, 24, was fatally shot outside Warwick Workmen’s Club on April 7
Keyoshe Robinson, 22, was found on St George’s golf course on May 4. Police said he appeared to have been shot

Mr Smith said in a video link: “We are appealing today for anyone who has information about this disturbance who lives in the area of Astwood Walk who may have seen or heard anything or who also has CCTV from your residence.
“We are asking you to make contact with us as we continue to advance this investigation and to bring closure to the family of the deceased man. Any information you provide will be treated with the strictest of confidence.”
Responding to the incident, Michael Weeks, Minister of National Security, said many people on the island had become “desensitised” to community violence.
He said: “I want the family and friends of this young man to know that my heart goes out to them during this difficult time.
“I was saddened and disturbed by the news. Losing anyone through violence is not normal, especially in such a small community.
“I realise that many in our island have become desensitised to the community violence issue; however, these continuous acts point to a deeper problem that we must collectively confront.”
One Bermuda Alliance’s Michael Dunkley, the shadow national security minister, said that some young Bermudians had limited options, and were sometime confined to becoming involved in gang culture, or leaving the island.
In a statement tonight, Mr Dunkley said: “I was shocked and saddened to wake Sunday morning and learn that another young man had lost his life to brutal and senseless violence this weekend.
“Sadly, it seems as if the value of life is slipping away, and resorting to violence seems to be the prevalent way of solving conflict. As a community we must do better!
“Another family is grieving prematurely. When will this end?
“I implore everyone to stop and think how one action can shift a life for ever.
“Please stop the violence! We each have a part to play and we cannot turn a blind eye to behaviour that undermines the safety and security of the island. Tough love is badly needed as we cannot expect the police to enforce the law without a community that cares and values peace and safety.
“On behalf of the One Bermuda Alliance, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the young man who was murdered. I hope the second victim makes a full and speedy recovery.”
