The final Harbour Night of 2022 will feature the town crier Ed Christopher, Evolution Gombeys, live performances provided by the Department of Culture and much more.

Local celebrities will volunteer to do “outrageous dares” to raise money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda charity.

The Bank of Butterfield will be sponsoring the event tonight. It will be offering patrons complimentary snowballs and various free giveaways. The bank’s mascot, Vern, will also be making an appearance.

Butterfield will cover 50 per cent of the associated application fees for all of the Front Street vendors.

“Butterfield is delighted to have the opportunity to support and participate in an event that is the staple in our community,” Michael Neff, Butterfield’s managing director in Bermuda, said. “With the great entertainment line-up and activities throughout the night, we hope that everyone will bring out their families to partake in these festivities.”

The Chamber of Commerce thanked Butterfield for supporting Harbour Nights throughout this season.

“We [at the Chamber] are grateful to have Butterfield as one of our lead sponsors this year and thank them for their generous support and investment in this community and our event,” Chamber of Commerce CEO Kendaree Burgess said.

A spokeswoman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda said: “Each participant has accepted hilarious, stomach-churning or bizarre dares with the aim of raising between $1,000 and $1.500 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda.

“The participants will encourage members of the community to make pledges to see them do their dares and generate funding for the charitable organisation.

“In previous years we witnessed a Member of Parliament kissing a pig from Wadson’s Farm, a school principal getting into a boxing match with the Belco Bird and a star runner eating a live ‘organic’ cockroach. This year the sky is the limit.“

Tonight’s participants include Carika Weldon, DJ Fury and TNN journalist Trevor Lindsay.

Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, the managing director of BBBS, said: “We had planned to do this fundraiser in 2020 but then we were faced with the pandemic.

“Then in 2021 we were faced with the same dilemma. This fundraiser promises to be a fun event for families while also helping us to continue servicing the youth of Bermuda.

“We encourage everyone to log on to bdatix.bm and make a donation towards a dare. Our contestants are amazing, and we are looking forward to a great show. We would like to thank the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce for their support of this event.”
