Bermuda made subtle headway today during the penultimate round of the World Amateur Team Championships in Paris, France.

The trio of Jarryd Dillas, Will Haddrell and Damian Palanyandi jumped three places from 65th into a two-way tie for 62nd with Costa Rica after carding a six-over 150 at La Golf National.

All three players produced their best rounds at the event so far, with Dillas and Haddrell’s four-over 75 counting towards the island’s two lowest scores for the round.

Palanyandi carded an eight-over 79.

“The guys played better today,” Gary Burnet, Bermuda’s non-playing captain, told The Royal Gazette. “Everyone felt more comfortable at the Le Golf National and the team moved up three spots.

“Jarryd felt he left a few shots out there on the greens, but had his best ball-striking day. Hopefully, he can put it all together tomorrow.”

Dillas has been Bermuda’s most consistent performer at the event with three successive rounds in the 70s, with Haddrell and Palanyandi both breaking 80 for the first time today.

“Damian had a rough start being four over after three holes and played the last 14 in only four over,” Burnet added.

“Will got off to a better start than the previous two days and was generally happy with his round.”

Dillas remains in a two-way tie for 141st, Haddrell among four players tied for 176th and Palanyandi is in a two-way tie for 190th.

Meanwhile, the battle for the Eisenhower Trophy is poised to go down to the wire with several nations still thick in the hunt with 18 holes left to play.

Sweden jumped ten places into first to hold a one-shot advantage over Italy, previous leaders Japan and the United States.

Hosts France are alone in fifth a further shot back with Spain, Norway and Argentina all within five shots of the lead.

Taiga Semikawa, of Japan, tops the individual leaderboard at 18-under 197, with Italy’s Filippo Celli five shots back in second, and Sweden’s Tobias Jonsson and Archie Davies, of Wales, a shot adrift.

Sweden’s Johnsson and Thailand’s Ashita Piamkulvanich shot the joint-lowest round of seven-under 64.
