The new Salt Yoga studio is about to kick off its first round of beginners vinyasa yoga classes.

“Back to school and the new year are always popular times of the year for beginner yoga series to run,” founder Emily Terceira said.

“Salt Yoga’s beginner series is different from other beginner yoga series because it is designed to set students up for a vinyasa style class, which is primarily what we offer on our schedule.”

In the five-week course, instructors will break down common postures and transitions found in their classes, as well as posture modifications and enhancements for different bodies and abilities.

“Through this series we hope to ignite a passion for movement and love for the body,” Ms Terceira said.

She said teachers Ziria Cuevas Noriega and Akilah Beckles are experienced at working with beginners.

“They are excited to embark on this new series with Salt Yoga,” she said.

She said Salt Yoga believed in merging the traditions of this ancient movement practice with the modern knowledge of best movement practices for everybody.

“Each person steps on to the mat with a different background, and therefore modifications for different abilities and body types in each posture are not only recommended but celebrated,” Ms Terceira said.

Salt Yoga’s beginner series targets anyone looking to start their yoga journey from scratch or rekindle a journey that may have been forgotten.

“You’re never too bad or inflexible or young or old to begin, or begin again,” Ms Terceira said. “Our classes are welcoming and invite a deep sense of community. We are not a physical yoga studio, but are a community to be a part of.

“Our outdoor locations offer gorgeous views of the sea, and our indoor spaces in town are grounding and tranquil spaces.”

Classes are on Mondays at 12.30pm at the Jackson School of Performing Arts on Burnaby Street in Hamilton or on Tuesdays at Azura Bermuda at 90 South Road, Warwick at 6pm. The cost is $150.
