Cooler waters mark Hurricane Earl’s path
Hurricane Earl has left a trail of cooler water in its wake, according to satellite imagery.
While much of the western Atlantic remains warmer than usual, a clear strip of cooler water is visible where Hurricane Earl passed last week.
The Bermuda Weather Service wrote on Facebook: “Looking at the latest sea-surface temperature analysis, Earl's path is quite evident as it brought cooler water to surface.
“It's too early to know if or how this will affect the development of any further tropical cyclones.”
The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season will continue until the end of November, with forecasts suggesting a busier-than-average season.
Last night meteorologists were monitoring a tropical depression located about 800 miles east of the Leeward Islands, which is expected to become a tropical storm in the coming days.
The system is not considered a threat to Bermuda but is expected to pass by the Leeward Islands on Friday and approach the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico over the weekend.
