A 31-year-old Paget woman pleaded guilty to being nearly three times the legal drink-driving limit when she was involved in a single-vehicle crash.

Alan Richards, for the Crown, told Magistrates’ Court that at about 2.20am on July 25, police were notified about a bike crash on Lane Hill in Pembroke.

Claire Cook, who was involved in the crash, was discovered to have road rash on the right side of her body.

After being examined and treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Cook was taken to Hamilton Police Station, where she admitted consuming a few drinks before getting on her bike.

A breathalyser test revealed between 214mg and 222mg of alcohol in 100ml of Cook’s blood. The legal limit for driving in Bermuda is 80mg per 100ml.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Cook $1,000 and banned her from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
