The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club has sought in-principle approval to expand its marina, according to a planning application.

The application proposes the creation of an additional 21 berths through a new floating dock, which would be installed to the east of the existing marina facility.

Documents included in the application said: “Construction of the floating docks and services provided will match the existing marina.

“The main dock and ‘T-end’ wave attenuation float will be supported by driven piles and the finger docks securely fixed to the main dock. Power and water pedestals and hydrants and lighting will match the existing marina.”

The application noted that the hotel understood that a seabed survey and an environmental impact report would be required to apply for final approval.

However, it hoped the application would help to determine the feasibility of the proposal and what other reports may be required.

The 60-berth marina at the hotel, built as part of a $100 million renovation project, was first opened in 2014.

The facility was branded as the first full-service marina on the island, offering pump-out facilities, electrical services and water distribution for boats of all sizes.
