Be courteous when using headlights, Road Safety Council urges

Motorists were reminded today to be cautious and courteous when using their headlights.
The Bermuda Road Safety Council said that road users must have reflectors or headlights on during the hours of darkness, and that vehicles must have dim and high settings to be allowed on the road.
BRSC chairman Dennis Lister III said: “The Transport Control Department handbook instructs motorists to dim their headlights when they see other vehicles on the road and when following another motorist that they do not plan to overtake.

“Dipped headlights should be used when visibility is low so that motorists can be seen. High headlights should be avoided during times of brightness.”
