Residents reminded of Covid-19 vaccine availability
Covid-19 vaccine shots are available at seven outlets across the island.
A batch of 5,500 doses of vaccinations arrived from Britain last month.
The Government announced today a list of participating medical practices and pharmacies where residents can get the jab.
Although active cases of the virus have declined in recent months, Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said it was still important for residents to get vaccinated and have booster shots.
The latest supply includes the Moderna bivalent vaccine, one of the few vaccine boosters that targets new Covid-19 variants.
Ms Wilson said: “Our positive case numbers remain low. However, getting vaccinated has many benefits. You can avoid getting seriously ill and being admitted to hospital. This is especially important if new variants emerge.
“Vaccination is recognised globally as one of the most important measures individuals can take to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community.
“Contact your GP or participating pharmacies to get the vaccine.”
Vaccines are offered to Bermuda’s residents who meet the following criteria:
• Residents aged 5 to 11 are eligible for a first or second dose only. The time between doses must be at least 21 days.
• Residents aged 12 and over are eligible for a first, second or third dose. The time between the first and second dose must be at least 21 days. The time between the second dose and third dose booster must be at least five months.
• Residents aged 50 or older and immunocompromised residents are eligible for a fourth or subsequent dose of the vaccine provided their third dose or previous dose was at least five months ago.
• Health and essential care workers are eligible for a fourth or subsequent dose of the vaccine provided their third dose or previous dose was at least five months ago.
The seven facilities where the vaccine is now available are: Bermuda Healthcare Services; Diabetes Association Pharmacy; Hamilton Health Centre; Hamilton Pharmacy; Northshore Medical Office; Somers Medical; and WeeCare Paediatrics.
