City asking for pop-up restaurant proposals

Food enthusiasts who dream of running their own restaurant have an opportunity to enter the catering business, thanks to the Corporation of Hamilton.

City Hall is inviting would-be restaurateurs to submit proposals for a number of pop-up food concessions throughout Hamilton.

Lorna Hayward, the corporation’s venue and rentals co-ordinator, said: “The city will consider proposals on a case-by-case basis and will only consider food concessions that do not directly compete with any existing businesses in the surrounding areas of the eligible locations.

“The food concession must provide an added value to the area in terms of diversity of available options, vibrancy, customer experience and aesthetics.”

Pop-up locations will be Victoria Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Wesley Square, Dr EF Gordon Square, Laffan Street and Front Street.

The initial lease for the granted facility will be one year from January 1, 2023, and the rent for the food concession facility is $800 per quarter.

Digital proposals should be e-mailed to lhayward@cityhall.bm no later than 5pm on November 29. Leases will be awarded, and the successful applicant notified no later than December 12 and are expected to start operations on January 2.
