The racing suit that Dame Flora Duffy wore during her historic Olympic gold medal win will be on display at the National Museum of Bermuda.

The suit, which she wore during her 2020 Olympic Triathlon triumph, will be hung in the foyer of the Commissioner’s House on Friday in preparation for the upcoming Bermuda leg of the World Triathlon Championship Series this weekend.

Dame Flora said: “I’m humbled that the National Museum of Bermuda believes my Olympic race suit belongs as a proud nugget of Bermuda history.

“May it serve as a bright and colourful reminder of our islands talent and will to succeed.”

Dame Flora’s performance made history as it made Bermuda the smallest territory to win gold in the summer Olympics.

The gold medal came 45 years after Bermudian Clarence Hill’s Olympic bronze medal for boxing.

Dame Flora’s suit will become part of the museum’s growing sports history collection and will join the likes of the Finn dinghy used by the late sailing legend Howard Lee in the 1976 summer Olympics in Montreal, Canada.

Its display has been funded by Debbie and Jim Butterfield and donors to the museum’s annual Anchor Fund.
