A Pembroke woman was banned from the roads for 18 months after refusing to take a breath test.

Natalie Moran, 44, pleaded guilty to the offence when she appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Cindy Clarke, for the Crown, said police officers were responding to a trespassing incident at Government House on November 6 when they saw Moran leaning against a wall on Langton Hill in front of her bike.

When questioned, Moran said she was waiting for someone to pick her up. Officers noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and her breath smelt of alcohol.

Before being taken to Hamilton Police Station, Moran threw an empty plastic bottle over the wall she was leaning against. Police said that the bottle also smelt of alcohol.

In addition to the ban, Moran was fined $1,500.
