A fiancée felt like she was going to die while being assaulted by her partner, a court heard yesterday.

Damion Williams, 41, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to assaulting Destiny Taylor, also from Pembroke, and depriving her of her liberty. He also pleaded guilty to threatening her.

Prosecutor Javone Rogers told Magistrates’ Court that on Monday, Williams choked Ms Taylor and made her to fall to the floor. She suffered a large bump to her forehead as a result of the fall.

Ms Taylor went to the Hamilton Police Station after the incident and was later examined at the hospital.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to December 28 for sentencing and ordered that court services conduct a social inquiry report for Williams.

He was released on $5,000 bail and ordered to not contact Ms Taylor or attend her residence.
