Maintenance problems pose ‘challenges’ to Lefroy House operations
An annual inspection of Lefroy House identified “significant areas of concern” related to the building’s maintenance and immediate repairs will be carried out, according to a Government spokeswoman.
The spokeswoman said a recent inspection by the Bermuda Health Council found the facility met the required clinical, administrative and management standards of practice.
However the“physical infrastructure and environmental health” at the facility were found to pose challenges to its operation.
“The areas identified do not relate to care, instead they focus on maintenance matters,” the spokeswoman said.
“The Ministry of Public Works is working closely with the Lefroy House Care Community to address any ongoing issues and to conduct immediate repairs.
“This will be done in accordance with a specified timeline and with as minimal disruption to the residents as possible.”
The spokeswoman added that the Ministry of Health has also been overseeing the situation and would continue to speak with the Bermuda Health Council to address concerns.
“The Government has been assured by the LHCC administration that the residents’ families and the healthcare community will be kept fully abreast of all the developments regarding the LHCC,” she said.
