Dressing rooms renovated at Earl Cameron Theatre
Performers can prepare for the stage in a fresh, purpose-built dressing room after renovations were completed at the Earl Cameron Theatre.
A spokeswoman for the City of Hamilton said the refurbishment “completely transformed the City Hall space with the installation of sleek, modern fixtures and flooring, giving the area a clean and contemporary feel”.
Chris Bulley, an assistant city engineer, added: “We are extremely satisfied with the results of this extensive renovation.
“The final product is a purpose-designed theatre dressing room that will better support theatrical, dance and musical performances for the enjoyment and benefit of the community.
“We have received great feedback from the organisations that have experienced the improved space and we are excited for the next performance groups to get in there and enjoy the new dressing rooms.”
The renovation included the levelling and retiling of floors, new drywall and ceiling tiles and a full interior repaint.
New fixtures and hardware such as sinks, vanity cabinets and countertops were installed as well as a 26ft-long galvanised steel support beam to expand the dressing room area.
The city spokeswoman said: “All plumbing and electrical was replaced with new materials and a new communication system has been installed to enable direct communication between the dressing rooms, back of stage areas and the lighting and sound control rooms.
“There are eight hanging lockers, professional theatre mobile hanging racks, a new green room, a new make-up area and a new break area.”
She added: “The contract for the works was awarded to Gorham’s Management Design Services after the usual tender process with J. A. D. Design Build carrying out the management of the project.”
