Women Owned Wednesday market set for BAA Gym
Some 40 businesses owned by women will offer products and services this week at the Women Owned Wednesday market at the Bermuda Athletic Association gymnasium.
The event, which runs from 6pm until 9pm, is presented by WOMB (Women who Own and Manage Businesses) Bermuda.
A spokeswoman said: “While a majority of the businesses are offering products for sale, there are a number who offer services, both for individuals and to make life easier for families.”
The market will feature a raffle draw, with items donated by female-owned businesses, and local entertainment.
Stephanie Lee, WOMB facilitator and market organiser, said: “We are pleased and excited to bring this market to the holiday market circuit for the fourth year.
“Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we had to pause the market. We are pleasantly pleased by the response of persons wanting to participate in the market.
“This year was a reintroduction. We have a few familiar names, and a few new faces, some who launched their business as a result of lay-offs during and since the pandemic.
“It’s incredible – seeing the resilience, perseverance and dedication these entrepreneurs have to pursue their dreams, while being able to support their families and contribute to the economy.
“Bermuda is encouraged to come out and #ChooseWomen.”
Ms Lee said there was a high standard in the array of goods presented by vendors.
She said: “By patronising local businesses, you are helping these women provide for their families, which in turn benefits the country.”
She said part of the proceeds of the market would be donated to a women-centric organisation.
