Turkey Trotters prepare for Christmas with North Shore run
It’s the time of year that turkeys fear with Thanksgiving just passed and Christmas still to come but there were plenty of a strange variety of the bird on North Shore on Sunday.
The Northshore Medical Centre Turkey Trot was raising funds for a number of charities and there were plenty of runners pounding the streets to perhaps get in shape ahead of the holiday excess to come.
More than 50 runners showed up and there were plenty of interesting costumes and sights on display.
The 8K run was eventually won by Will Green in a time of 29min and 51secs, with Chris Parry coming home in second place and Kwame Curling finishing third.
Teresa Ruiz was first home for the women and finished 12th overall.
The 8K competitive walk was won by Tim Price with Kenneth O’Neill second and Gilda Cann third.
