Kamau Leverock and Delray Rawlins disappoint in T20 US Open cricket
Bermuda captain Kamau Leverock and Delray Rawlins suffered disappointing exits in the US Open T20 tournament.
While Kamau Leverock's Titans side made it out of their group before losing to Samp Army in the quarter-finals, Rawlins featured in three losses for Florida Scorpions as they failed to progress to the knockout stages.
Despite only winning one of their three Division A matches when beating Virginia Bears by 24 runs, Titans still managed to progress through to the quarter-finals with a seven-wicket defeat to Samp Army and 66-run loss against Stallions X on their record.
However, in a rematch of their group encounter, Titans proved no match for the opposition when going down to a heavy nine-wicket defeat at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida.
Electing to bat, Titans could muster only 112-8 from their allotted overs with Bermuda captain Leverock scoreing a solitary run before being caught and bowled by Nisarg Patel when coming at number six.
Navin Stewart top scored on just 23, with Oli Harris (17) and opener Aaditya Varadharajan (15) the only other players to make any real contribution.
Manoj Acharya proved the pick of the bowling attack picking up two wickets for just seven runs, while Rohan Mustafa and Patel also claimed two wickets apeice.
The reply proved light work for Samp Army, who knocked off the required runs, scoring 113-1 in 11.5 overs.
John Charles led the way with an impressive knock of 75 not out from 41 balls, which included four fours and eight sixes. He was supported by Sol Budinger (31 not out), with Andries Gus the only man out when caught off the bowling of Varadharajan for seven.
Florida Scorpions, who featured Delray Rawlins, got the tournament under way with a disappointing five-wicket loss against Clarion County Asia United before slipping to a 56-run defeat to UMMC Knight Riders and then going down by 27 runs against Stallions in their final outing.
Rawlins scored a total of 51 runs in his three matches, with his highest total of 21 coming in the final match against Stallions, in which he also took his solitary wicket.
