A woman who suffered a head wound after an accident was banned yesterday from the roads for 18 months.

Traci Matthews, 38, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to refusing to take a breathalyser test.

Prosecutor Adley Duncan said that on May 29 police were driving on Middle Road, Devonshire, when they saw a car that had been badly damaged after an accident.

They stopped and spoke to Matthews, who was sitting across from her car. She had suffered a head injury and was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Officers asked Matthews for samples of her breath at the hospital, to which she repeatedly declined.

In addition to being banned, Matthews was fined $1,500.
