Young photographers take centre stage in Reg Grundy awards
Young photographers showed they had their eyes on the prize at the Reg Grundy Annual Youth Photography Competition.
The theme of this year’s contest was “Your Eyes On Bermuda”, and was divided into three categories – families, buildings and nature.
The event, was organised by the National Museum of Bermuda in partnership with Joy Chambers Grundy in memory of her husband, Dr Grundy, an Australian television producer and Bermuda resident.
Opening an exhibition of this year’s photographs at Commissioner’s House, Diallo Rabain, the Minister of Education said: “Congratulations to all participating students and parents and teachers who encouraged their students to enter the competition.
“Now in year four, it is very encouraging to see the success of this competition and how it is growing. This competition is an excellent opportunity for Bermuda’s young people to develop their creativity and patience and enhance their visual literacy and ability to see the world around them in unique ways.
“Being engaged in the arts and developing an appreciation for the cultural and natural environment sets children up to be responsible and caring citizens.
“Thank you to Joy Grundy, sponsors and the National Museum of Bermuda for providing this great opportunity for Bermuda’s young people.”
