A Pembroke man who admitted having a knife in Hamilton was sentenced to 30 days behind bars.

Jahni Holder, 28, earlier denied the charge, but changed his plea in Magistrates’ Court last Monday.

Prosecutor Adley Duncan said that on October 16, officers stopped Holder because he was riding his bike while disqualified.

Police searched him and found a folding knife in his waistband. The weapon’s blade was longer than three-and-a-half inches and was later seized by police.

Holder came before the court for driving while disqualified on November 18 and was given a three-month suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty.

But he was caught driving while being disqualified again on November 24 and appeared in Magistrates’ Court on December 2 where he was jailed for four months.

On Monday, senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that Holder’s sentence for knife possession run concurrently with the four months he is serving.
