Without Christmas, there is no Resurrection
Dear Sir,
It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year when Christmas arrives. Christmas is referred to in secular terms as the Holidays with a capital H, given we have holidays throughout the year.
For those of us whoa re members of the blessed Christian faith, the wonderful event is the Incarnation of Christ our Lord. Without this glorious event in Bethlehem, which is also embedded in historical reality, without this turnkey event in God's plan of redemption, we would not have the ministry of the three years of this babe in a manger as a man fully grown.
What a thought, no water turned into wine, no healing of the sick, giving of sight to the blind, restoration of hearing to the deaf by miraculous means. Imagine the raising of the dead of one deceased four days earlier. What a hallelujah moment for the witnesses. Walking on water never happens. Nor does speaking to the elements of nature - “Peace be still“ - and the weather obeys!
By now, you're getting the point. Because of the Incarnation we have the Crucifixion, Resurrection and the Ascension of our wonderful saviour. Yes, Christmas, how we love it as a season, but in the light of eternity it is so much more. The Incarnation opened the door to the glorious Gospel of Salvation in Christ alone.
So yes, it is a wonderful time of the year without a doubt. This baby as a man died on a blood soaked cross so that we could have a wonderful life all year-round and eternal life in the presence of a loving God.
The Incarnation was the start of the greatest story ever told of Christ and his love for a fallen world through his Amazing Grace. Joy to the world! The Lord has come! Blessings abound!
We can receive his peace in our deeply troubled world. God bless our island home.
