Bermuda’s martial arts and combat sports reputation received another significant boost when Ashton Bell became a world Muay Thai champion at the prestigious Thailand Cup.

Bell, who represents Fight City Muay Thai and Fitness, won gold in the Middleweight B Division, the highest level of amateur competition but is not the only fighter to be returning with a medal as Tyler Kerr won silver at super lightweight.

Coach Chuck Morgan was thrilled with the performance and keen to point

“ I cannot be prouder about what these boys did this weekend,” Morgan said.

“Ashton Bell continued his winning streak and defeated a very tough American opponent in the finals to bring home the gold in the B class division and Tyler Kerr is the first bermudian to fight for an A class event title.

“He fought a seasoned professional Muay Thai fighter from Vietnam to a very close decision loss and is bringing home the silver medal to our island.

“We came to test ourselves and we will be bringing home more than trophies to the island. The knowledge, experience, and training we received while here is priceless.

.“Bermuda Muay Thai is levelling up again.”
