Sharing the Christmas spirit

Dear Sir,

Once again please allow us to use your newspaper for this note of gratitude and heartfelt thanks to our Bermudian community.

A special thanks to The MarketPlace for the use of all eight stores for our Tag Day held on December 3, 2022. This past year we supplied 762 food hampers. The committee felt very thankful for the continued support Bermuda has shown for this worthwhile project, which has been in existence for 34 years, by providing non-perishable items and placing them in the decorative bins at all MarketPlace Stores.

As the chair of the Share the Christmas Spirit Campaign, I would like to express my thanks to the president, Seth Stutzman, vice-presidents Don Bryan and John Wozneak, Ladricka Simmons, Natalie Rego, Rita Pereira and a special thank-you Joseph Cheeseman for his continued support and hard work in collecting goods from all MarketPlace stores and schools who made food donations.

Thank you to George Mensha, property manager of the Bermuda Police Service, for the use of their building to pack the food hampers. Many thanks to our food donors, Oil Group of Companies, Wakefern Food Corp, MarketPlace stores, Pacheco & Sons Farm, The Berkeley Institute PTA, BGA, Butterfield & Vallis, Lionel Raynor, St Regis Resort, Vision Bermuda, and the student councils of The Berkeley Institute and Bermuda High School for Girls.

I would also like to thank the following Lions members for their assistance — Hamilton members Debi and Dudley Cottingham for opening their home to club members to wrap the Christmas boxes, vice-district governor Mark Bothello, Eastern Lions Club, Hamilton Lions Club and Paget Lions Club. Thank you to my dedicated team who have assisted me for the past 14 years, past district governor Stephen Dean and his family members, Jean Stovell, Joanne Talbot-Johnston, Joanne Rego, Victor Scott Primary School and Marlene Christopher.

We are all overwhelmed with the support we have received from the government schools and the private schools.

Our prayers and thoughts are that we were able to shed a little light and lift your burden this Christmas 2022.

May God pour out a double portion of health, peace and prosperity to your families in 2023.
