Christopher Lee is to join the board of the Bermuda Investor Community as a non executive director.

The organisation is the island’s first fully digital angel investment platform, bringing local investment opportunities to qualified individual investors.

Mr Lee said: “The community has identified a strong pipeline of investment opportunities for those seeking to support the diversification and growth of the Bermuda economy, whilst adding to their investment portfolios.

“The success of the Bermuda Investor Community will benefit all Bermudians for years to come.”

Mr Lee, who was recently appointed to the post of chief operating officer on Aspen’s Capital Markets team, has held equivalent roles in both re/insurance firms as well as high growth technology start-ups.

He also served on the investment and portfolio management team at Chicago Growth Partners, working across three funds representing $1.5 billion of private equity capital.

Mr Lee gained his MBA in finance and entrepreneurial management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Caroline McGill, executive chairwoman of the Bermuda Investor Community, said: “Christopher brings with him extensive experience of making investments, growing investee companies and raising capital as a start-up operator, which will prove invaluable as we move forward with the Bermuda Investor Community.

“His qualifications and international business experience make him an ideal person for this role as we seek to enable the growth and international expansion of local businesses – many in the technology sector.

“I look forward to working closely with Christopher to ensure the Bermuda Investor Community achieves its potential and creates a measurable positive impact for the Bermuda economy.

“Christopher is the first of a number of key appointments and we will continue to augment our board over the coming months.”

Through its online platform, the Bermuda Investor Community operates the island’s first formal network to help entrepreneurs and investors connect.

By enabling investment in entrepreneurial businesses, and contributing all of its profits to Ignite, the island’s entrepreneurial accelerator, the Bermuda Investor Community aims to make a positive contribution to economic diversification, growth, jobs and wealth creation, creating a level playing field for entrepreneurs seeking investment and investors seeking growth opportunities.
