Fixture in doubt after club closure
Southampton Rangers Premier Division match against Dandy Town tomorrow is in doubt after the Bermuda Police Service exercised a closure of the Southampton Sports Club following a disturbance.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening involving several individuals and resulting in the arrest of one man. As a result the club will be closed from 10pm today, until 10pm tomorrow.
In response the Bermuda Football Association released the following statement: “The BFA have been officially informed by Southampton Rangers that their facility has been closed by the Bermuda Police Service. As a result, they will not be able to host Dandy Town in this weekend’s Premier Division fixture.
“The BFA Competitions Committee and Southampton Rangers are exploring options that may enable the match to be played at another venue. We are hopeful that a solution can be found that will alleviate any scheduling challenges in the new year.”
