Daily Male’s second health clinic set for East End
After a successful launch, the Daily Male Men’s Health Clinic is set to return this weekend offering free health services to older men in the East End.
Organisers said they hoped the clinic, to be held at the St George’s Cricket Club on Saturday from 9am to 1pm, would attract as many as 50 men over the age of 60 for testing after a greater than expected turnout at the first clinic last month.
A spokesman added: “Discussions are under way with Government and the donor community regarding the potential acquisition and retrofit of a bus, that would allow for Daily Male to offer mobile services and even more so achieve the goal of ‘taking healthcare to the streets’.
“In its offer of free testing for prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease Daily Male has an aim of identifying the percentage of high-risk men that will need to be assessed for the early diagnostics and treatment of the aforementioned health conditions.
“Such testing can serve to prevent the spiralling costs of managing metastatic prostate cancer and improve the awareness for prostate and cardiovascular health among men in Bermuda.”
Daily Male is supported by a team of more than 60 volunteers and clinical professionals, with clients receiving gift packages and coupons for haircuts at one of several participating barber shops, including Millenium Barber Shop, One Stop Barbershop and Faderz Barber Shop.
Future clinics are scheduled to be held at the Somerset Cricket Club on April 1, the Warwick Workmen’s Club on May 6, Bailey’s Bay Cricket Club on June 3 and the Pembroke Hamilton Club on July 1.
