Gale force winds are still battering the island this morning, and the Government is urging residents to take precautions.

Up to 430 Belco customers lost power yesterday, and there were two reported outages in Warwick this morning.

Michael Weeks, the Minister of National Security, said yesterday that public safety is key and urged motorists to exercise care and caution when using the roads, particularly this morning.

The Bermuda Weather Service forecast this morning said that winds were expected to ease later today as a cold front across the area moved away.

Sustained winds were expected to be in the 30mph to 40mph range this morning with gusts up to 50mph.

“Wet weather follows into the night, before the front exits and leaves a blustery pattern with showers lasting into Thursday,” the report added.
