Dear Sir,

Once again the Government is bringing “experts” to assist with food security and also to run the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

There are a number of successful farmers who do an outstanding job, know Bermuda, what to plant and when. These experts are not familiar with the rainfall and type of soil. Why cannot these successful farmers be consulted? I guess you think they are Bermudian, so don’t know what they are doing! So much for protecting Bermudian jobs.

The BTA lost a wonderful Bermudian in Glenn Jones. He was another C.V. “Jim” Woolridge with a great personality. Not only did they lose him, but he is no longer working in Bermuda. Such expertise cannot be lost to the local economy.

Owing to this short-sighted approach, the population has reduced by about 5,000; not all exempt-company people and generally Bermudians emigrating.

When is change going to be made to encourage Bermudians into high-profile jobs and keep them in those jobs?
