People sought to become ‘success coaches’ to help students
An organisation offering scholarships and grants is looking for up to 20 people to become “success coaches” to help first-year students transition into postsecondary education.
The support will mainly focus on young people receiving Centennial Bermuda Foundation’s scholarships for degree programmes.
Terré Smith, Centennial programme and operations co-ordinator, said: “Having a mentor will be invaluable for first-year students, especially those who are the first generation in their family to attend college or university, because they face unique challenges.
“They are less likely to seek out resources and support on campus in times of need.
“Centennial is inviting interested individuals with postsecondary qualifications and work experience to apply to become a success coach.
“The selected mentors will participate in professional development and coaching throughout the year, and will build skills in mentoring, advising, leadership, communication and community building.”
Information on becoming a success coach can be found at centennial.bm/resources, with applications closing on March 24.
