A government spokesman said: “The summit includes site visits to Bermuda’s solar and electric transportation projects, regional networking, capstone project presentation and other experiential learning opportunities towards a more sustainable, clean energy future for the region.

“The summit is a key portion of Rocky Mountain Institute’s energy transition academy global fellowship programme, which aims to fast-track the development of utility-driven renewable energy projects through targeted learning and experience exchange.”

The global organisation RMI aims to cut greenhouse gases worldwide in half by 2050.

During the week, Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban and the Acting Minister of Transport, Vance Campbell, gave presentations on Bermuda’s energy transition efforts and the importance to Caribbean nations of advancing renewable energy policies in addressing climate change.
