Nick Pilgrim beats Jackson Langley as triathlon season returns
Nick Pilgrim got his new domestic campaign off to the perfect start with victory in the Bermuda Triathlon Association’s annual season-opening event on Good Friday.
Competing in the sprint distance event, which consists of a 750-metre swim, 20km bike and 5k run and starting and finishing at Harrington Sound Dock, Pilgrim crossed the line in a winning time of 54min 21 sec.
Jackson Langley claimed second place, finishing slightly more than 90 seconds adrift of Pilgrim in 56:53, with Alex Waldauer completing the podium places in 59.02. Geoff Smith claimed fourth place with Byron Renken rounding out the top five.
The race also included a swim and bike category, in which Jacob Wright came out on top in a winning time of 42:59, comfortably clear of his nearest rival Matthew Spencer (49.35), who in turn was more than two minutes clear of third place Steve Wells (53:19). Nick Greet finished fourth in 54:01, with Cesar Aparil (1:05:04) completing the top five.
