Teachers clinch double with Nichol Shield triumph
Teachers Rugby Football Club have been crowned league and cup champions after defeating Police 54-22 in the Nichol Shield at the North Field, National Sports Centre, on Saturday.
Teachers, who had already wrapped up the Bermuda Rugby Football Union league title after finishing the campaign undefeated, retained the Nichol Shield, which holds the prestige of the oldest continuous sporting competition in Bermuda.
Hadleigh Tucker led the scoring for Teachers with four tries, supported by two tries from Khabir Dill, and one apiece from Jahniko Francis and Jakee Simons. Kwame Naylor also added vital points with consistent kicking, converting seven out of eight attempts.
Meanwhile, there was also double delight for league champions Police Ladies, who won the Scully Cup with a 19-0 victory over Teachers Ladies in the final.
