Direct air service to Boston is set to resume next month, according to Skyport’s May flight schedule, while airlift to New York will more than double.

The recently published schedule includes the return of JetBlue service to the island on May 5, with the airline offering daily flights to Boston, JFK and LaGuardia.

The additional flights will significantly boost service between Bermuda and New York, which will also see daily service from American Airlines and three weekly flights from Delta Air Lines.

JetBlue had ended its service between Boston and Bermuda in 2021, blaming a lack of demand, but it was announced in February that the service would resume in May.

American Airlines is also set to continue its daily service to both Charlotte and Philadelphia, although service to Miami will be reduced from daily flights to five per week.

Meanwhile, Delta will continue to offer three weekly flights between Bermuda and Atlanta.

Air Canada is also set to boost the number of flights between Bermuda and Toronto, doubling its service from two weekly flights to four.

The change will more than offset a reduction in WestJet service to the Canadian city from two flights a week to one.

Bermuda will also enjoy daily flights to Heathrow through British Airways and Newark through United Airlines.

Erin Smith, chief operating officer of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, said the increased airlift was a welcome sign.

“Air capacity is a critical component to the tourism industry’s recovery and the BTA is focused on increasing visitor demand to make these flights a success for all,” she said.
