Anthony Richardson has been chosen to replace Makai Dickerson as the PLP candidate to take on OBA leader Craig Cannonier in Constituency 12.Last night Mr Dickerson quit as a candidate in the wake of his admission to possessing marijuana. Yesterday, pictures emerged of him making an apparent gang symbol on a social networking site.Mr Richardson fought unsuccessfully as the PLP candidate against Mr Cannonier in a by-election after former OBA leader John Barritt resigned his seat.As official nomination started today, Premier Paula Cox said: "I always go into any election with a view to win." Tourism Minister Wayne Furbert said of the party: "We are fired up. Fired up. I wish the election was tomorrow.”And Mr Cannonier said: "You can see the excitement from the candidates. We are here for a reason, and we are here to bring Bermuda a new way forward in politics."For the first time nominations were all taking place at the same venue, the Seventh-day Adventist church, on King Street.PLP candidate Terry Lister said he felt the party was in a good shape for the coming election, and eager to continue its work in Government and Dale Butler said he felt both teams were working hard."I believe Bermuda has an international reputation for running elections at high levels. I'm looking forward to it again."Independant candidate Charlie Swan urged voters to come to the polls and vote with their hearts, while another independant candidate, Cornell Fubler, said it was important that voters had the option to vote outside of the two main parties.In a statement this morning, Ms Cox said "I'm so proud of our team of qualified candidates who are in touch with their communities. We have a team of caring people who love our Island and our people."I'm so proud to stand strong with candidates like Renee Ming from Constituency #2. Renee is St George's born and bred. She has a long history of serving the community and I would be honoured to serve with her in the next government."I'm excited to be joined by rising stars like Diallo Rabain from Constituency #7, Lawrence Scott from Constituency #24 and David Burt from Constituency #18. They have energy, ideas and passion to move our country forward.
